Academic development

The Space Syntax Laboratory at University College London is the internationally-renowned home of academic research, software development and teaching in the field of space syntax.

The Bartlett’s Space Syntax: Architecture and Cities programme (formerly known as MSc Advanced Architectural Studies) is the original space syntax course. First set up by Bill Hillier in 1974 it has been teaching space syntax theory and methodology ever since.

To celebrate its 40th year, a celebration of the course took place in London in early September 2013.
